Assigned to choose a topic of interest and write in "a unique, engaging way", there were almost too many options to choose from. After my best friend expressed her concern over finding a roommate, a light bulb went off in my head. I decided to use my blog to share advice using my college experience so far, hopefully alleviating some of the anxiety of incoming students might be facing. With this blog, I chose a more personal format, instead of a more broad advice blog, because it gave me more creative freedom in writing. Below are links to three of my favorite "letters". Check them out!
During the second semester, I was also required to keep a Civic Issue Blog. On this blog, I focused on the issue of college sports on campus. While almost no other country has athletics integrated with their higher education, I explored the pros and cons of college athletics. My first post, "A Case For Athletic Scholarships", was posted after National Signing Day and I used various tweets I saw to show public opinion on the subject. My second post, "Athletics ≠ Academics", focuses on the disparity between athletics and academics in the business of college athletes. I was very interested in this topic so I enjoyed posting on this blog whenever I could. You can read my posts by clicking on the pictures or links below!
